Engaging business in the long-term sustainable management and use of natural resources is a key to the aim of halting the loss of biodiversity. The project has identifed micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which deliver economically viable habitat management activities in the Pontic Steppe ecosystem, covering parts of Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine.
The project sought to identify financial structures and instruments that will provide the market mechanism necessary for the long-term sustainability of selected micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) operating in steppe ecosystems. More on EBRD Steppes project

The project ran for 19 months. It started in May 2008 and terminated in December 2009.
